Economics studies the institutions and arrangements that are used to create, protect, and allocate scarce resources that have alternative uses. It advances understanding of the behaviour of individuals, firms, governments and other organizations. Economics’ deep intellectual roots, rigorous analytic methods, and powerful ability to explain and evaluate social phenomena make it an exceptionally rewarding field of study.
The faculty has the right mix of youth and experience. The small student teacher ratio, which is unparalleled in other institutions, provides opportunity for students and faculty members to have regular personal interactions both within and outside classrooms. The department apart from the regular degree programs (B.A.Hons, M.A and Ph.D Programs) also offers courses in Economics to other Departments/Schools in the University such as Media, Hotel Management, English, Law etc.
