HK institute of research & Rehabilitation for the disabled children is a voluntary organisation committed for the cause of Education and Rehabilitation for the children with disability in Andhra Pradesh. The Organisation is extending its service for the last 29 years. As a part of man power development services, this institute has started BSc (ASLP) 4 years Rehabilitation professional course during the academic year 2002-03. This course has been approved by the state Govt and recongnised by rehabilitation council of India, New Delhi. It is also affiliated to Osmania University, Hyderabad. In order to produce Audiologists, cum speech & language pathologists more in number as there is a huge demand in India as well as in USA , U.K, Canada, Australia and Gulf Countries.

After the graduation in Audiology, Speech and Language Pathology you can practice as independent Audiologist & Speech Language Pathologist / work in Hospitals in Department of E.N.T. / Pediatric / Neurology/ Rehabilitation Medicine/ Plastic Surgery / Preventive Medicine / Speech and Hearing Centers or in Hearing aid Industry / Clinics / Spastic Centers / Special School for the Children with Hearing Impairment / Mentally Retardation and in Industrial Setup/ Child Guidance Centers or even work as Faculty / Supervisors / Research Assistants in Speech and Hearing Training Centers / Colleges / Institutions / Universities etc. You can also go for further studies like M.Sc. (ASLP) / M.Sc. (Sp. & Hg) / M.Sc. (Psy) / M.A. (Linguistic) / M.A. (Eng.) / MBA, etc. You may even write any competitive exams like group I services / civil services/ bank services / Railway services, etc

After one year of training programme these special trained teachers will be eligible to work in special schools for the children with two years hearing impairment / mentally retardation. They can also work as resource teachers in IEDP / DPEP Schemes / Special schools / regular schools / Special Teacher Training Colleges / Universities and also as School teacher supervisors or research assistant etc. They can start private practice as special Education for the hearing impaired after getting registered with R.C.I., New Delhi. This special B.Ed. is eligible for pursuing higher education like M.A. (Education) / M.Ed. (special or normal) from any Indian Universities. B.Ed. Spl. Edu. (HI) qualified candidates were given an opportunity to write D.S.E. Exams during last D.S.E. Selections and likely to be extended the same in future. There are so many teachers at present working in normal schools with this B.Ed. Spl. Edu. (HI) Qualification in Andhra Pradesh. Since, there is a need for more number of trained teachers in the field of hearing impairment to cater Educational services to the children with hearing impairment residing in rural areas.
