The erstwhile Rufadia School of Nursing, now School of Nursing Sciences & Allied Health , was established in 1983 as per the vision of Janab Hakeem Abdul Hameed Saheb, the founder of Jamia Hamdard, who wanted to encourage girls from Muslim minority community and weaker sections of the society to take up the noble profession of Nursing. Jamia Hamdard became ‘Deemed to be University’ in the year 1989. Rufaida College of Nursing initially started with Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery Programme, and later in 1994, 2008 2013 and 2014, B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing, M.Sc. Nursing, Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing and Ph.D. in Nursing were started, respectively.
