The Vinayaka Mission’s Sankarachariyar Dental College, Salem was instituted in the year 1986 as an affiliated institution under the University of Madras and later on affiliated to the Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai with three courses viz., Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), Diploma in Dental Mechanic and Diploma in Dental Hygienist and Master of Dental Surgery (MDS). The Vinayaka Mission’s Sankarachariyar Dental College later on became the constituent of VINAYAKA MISSION'S RESEARCH FOUNDATION [DEEMED TO BE UNIVERSITY] from 2006. The institution is located on NH 47, Sankari Main Road, Ariyanoor,Salem-636008 in 10.14 acre campus with a build up area of 1,14,149 sq. ft.

Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) | Diploma in Dental Hygienist | Diploma in Dental Mechanics | Master of Dental Surgery (MDS)

1 .	Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS)
	Eligibility i) To be eligible for admission to BDS Degree Course, a candidate must have passed in 10+2 / H.Sc (or) its equivalent examination with subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Biotechnology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Biotechnology at the Qualifying Examination as mentioned in BDS Course Regulations, 2007 and in addition must have come in the merit list of NEET UG. ii) In respect of the candidate belonging to SC/ ST / OBC category, the marks to be obtained is 40% instead of 50%. In respect of candidates with PWD (Persons with Disblibilites) the minimum marks at 45% for general and 40% for SC / ST / OBC category. In order to become eligible for admission to BDS Degree Course for a particular academic year, it shall be necessary for a candidate to obtain minimum of marks at 50th percentile in NEET UG. iii)However, in respect of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC category the minimum marks 40th percentile and PWD (Persons with Disabilities) candidates, the minimum marks 45th Percentile for general category and 40th percentile for SC / ST /OBC category.

	Admission Procedure Admissions will be made for UG Degree programme through online counseling conducted by Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, New Delhi on the basis of Marks obtained in the NEET UG Examinations and the eligibility criteria prescribed by the DCI regulations in accordance with the guidelines and directions issued by the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India / Government of India / Dental Council of India, New Delhi and VMRF-DU from time to time.
