Raja Balwant Singh College, formerly known as Balwant Rajput College, is known for its phenomenal epoch-making progress. The Institution having a gigantic stature presently, started as a small boarding house for 20 students established way back in 1885 in the out house of "The Kotla House" in Bagh Farzana area of Civil Lines, Agra. Credit goes to Raja Balwant Singh of Awagarh, the founder to get the Boarding House, recognised as High School in 1899, from where the first batch of students appeared at the Matriculation Examination of Allahabad University in 1901.
Hostel Facility
Adequate hostel facilities are available for about 1500 students including girls on the two campuses at Agra and Bichpuri. Admission to hostels will be made after interview by the Principal on the recommendation of the Hostel Committee, preference being given to meritorious students.
Accommodation for girl students is available in the Girl's Hostel, Khandari House, Agra Campus.
Scholarship Facility
A number of scholarships awarded by the Central & U. P. Government are available for poor, deserving and meritorious students; e.g. National Scholarship, Fighters for Freedom Scholarship, ICAR scholarship for B.Sc. (Ag.) & M. Sc. (Ag.) students. National Loan Scholarship. Merit cum means Scholarship, Bursaries, Book Aid, Research Training Scholarship, etc. Besides financial assistance to needy and deserving students is also available from the Students Aid Fund.
