The College of Applied Science, managed by I.H.R.D was established in 1993 offering UG programs such as B.Sc Electronics and Computer Science for the first time in Kerala. The courses are being run under the semester system with the most modern syllabi, modified from time to time. The University of Calicut awards the degree. The College is by the side of NH 47, 33 KMs equidistant both from Palakkad and Thrissur. The College offers three U.G programs and three P.G programs. The M.Sc Electronics Program offered by this College is the first of it's kind under the University of Calicut and has one of the most advanced syllabi in the whole country.
The College library offers an essential assistance to each student at every level of learning. Around six thousand volumes of various titles including rare references are the major accumulation of information resources. The reading room is organized to facilitate access to leading periodicals, magazines, National and International journals offering recent happenings in the areas of Electronics, Computer research and industry, Communication, Modern technology. Reprographic facility, online cataloging and digitized collection of books, tutorials and other study materials are other features to be pointed out.
The College has complete infrastructure for effective functioning of the cell. Training activities are organized throughout the year in an effort towards preparing the prospective students for campus selection programmes. The cell is sensitized to function throughout the year towards generating placement opportunities for the students. The placement cell coordinates with the corporate sector and other similar educational institutions and enables the students to participate in campus selection events across the state. The cell is designed to function with a high degree of professionalism. It provides instantaneous data to the corporate sector with regard to the candidates available for consideration towards placement in accordance with their requirements.
