Hindustan Institute of Engineering Technology (H.I.E.T) was established in Chennai in 1966 in response to the need for non-formal technical education. Hindustan Institute of Engineering Technology is run by the Hindustan Engineering Training centre (HETC) Educational society and registered as a Technical Education Society under the Societies Act, XXI Of 1860. The institution is approved by the Director General of Civil Aviation, Government of India, for conducting Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Course and by All India Counsel for Technical Education and the Government of Tamil Nadu for conducting Diploma courses in Automobile, Computer and Mechanical Engineering courses.

1 .	Aeronautical Engineering (AMAeSI)
	Eligibility Pass in 12th standard (10 + 2) or equivalent with 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics individually.; Pass in B.Sc (Physics, Chemistry and Maths in second division) or diploma in Engineering (3-years course) with 50% marks

2 .	Aircraft Maintenance Engineering
	Eligibility Eligibility for Indian Students: Pass in 12th standard or equivalent with an aggregate of 50% marks in Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry Eligibility for Foreign Students: Pass in 12th standard or equivalent such as G.C.E (A) / Sr.Cambridge / East African School Certificate (A) or equivalent with eligibility to pursue a degree course in Science in an Indian University with aggregate of 50% marks in Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry ; The students should obtain security clearance from External Affairs Ministry Govt.of India before admission.

3 .	Diploma in Automobile Engineering
	Eligibility Candidates should have passed SSLC / 10th Standard or any other equivalent examination approved by the DOTE, Government of Tamil Nadu. Marks no bar.

	Other Details The Department of Automobile Engineerings teaches basic subjects like English, Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Technical Drawing and Basic Workshop in the first year, Mechanics of Materials, Manufacturing Process, Fluid Mechanics & Machines, Machine design and drawing; Heat Power, Machine Tool Technology, Electrical & Electronics Engg. during second year, and Petrol engines, Diesel engines, Transmission and control system, Body building Technology, Road Transport, Industrial Management, CAD/CAM and Project work during the final year.

4 .	Diploma in Civil Engineering

6 .	Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
