New Delhi Centre was established in the year 1954 in the rented premises building of Government Boys, Sr. Secondary School Rouse Avenue, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg, New Delhi. The New Delhi Regional Centre was then shifted in its own premises allotted by D. D. A. at Janakpuri Institutional Area during the year 1991.

Library: The AIILSG Library came into existence in the year 1926. The AIILSG Library is one of the major treasure-house for Local-Self Government books in India. The library has in stock about 31,468 books, 3,139 journal’s bound volumes and 199 CDs, 52 Video Films etc. Library subscribes to over 62 journals and magazines. Library receives 14 daily Newspapers.
