Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) Varanasi (IIT (BHU) Varanasi), formerly known as Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University (IT-BHU), is an Indian public engineering institute located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India. Founded in 1919 as part of the Banaras Hindu University, it was designated an Indian Institute of Technology in 2012. IIT (BHU) Varanasi has 13 departments and three inter-disciplinary schools.
Hostel Facility
IIT (BHU) Varanasi provides on-campus housing to students, research scholars and faculty members. Students are required to live in one of the 13 hostels throughout their stay at the institute. There are ten hostels for male students, two for females and one married hostel. The Student's Gymkhana popularly called King's Pavilion functions through 4 Councils namely, the Cultural Council, the Science and Technology Council, the Films and Media Council and the Sports Council.
The Training & Placement Office, IIT (BHU) Varanasi facilitates the process of placement of students passing out from the Institute besides collaborating with leading organizations and institutes in setting up of internship and training program of students. The placement season runs through the course of the year commencing the last week of July through to March. Pre-Placement Talks are also conducted in this regard as per mutual convenience. Job offers, dates of interviews, selection of candidates etc. are announced through the Training & Placement Office.
