Saroop Rani Govt. College for Women, Amritsar is the only premier government institution, situated in Jalandhar division of Punjab, which is providing quality and affordable education to girls. The college is affiliated with GNDU Amritsar. Equipped with the facilities and quality staff, the college boasts of a pollution-free and grand campus with green cover in the posh area of the city.
From a humble beginning in 1932, it was raised to degree level in 1938 and to P.G. level in 1971. It was shifted to the present building in 1963. Besides making progress in academics, cultural activities & sports, we lay great emphasis on imparting value-based education and on women empowerment . It remains our constant effort to equip our students so as to enable them to meet the challenges of life. To keep pace with the altered scenario & provide better career prospects, special arrangements are made to provide on-the-job training with the aid of allied industries. The college has produced a host of eminent personalities of national & international repute.
The Library is a spacious, well-lit and well ventilated with ample sitting capacity comprising of three Reading halls, Technical section, Reference section and Internet room.
