1 .	Diploma in Civil Engineering
	Eligibility Candidates who have passed Madhyamik (10+) Examination of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education or any other equivalent examination from any school approved by the WBSCTE are eligible for the selection in any branch of Diploma Course at Jalpaiguri Polytechnic Institute. Candidates seeking admission to the courses under the WBSCTE should possess good health and physique with sound mind. They should not be suffering from any disease, constitutional affection on body or mental infirmity.
	Duration 3 years
	Admission Procedure 60% of total seats are filled up on the basis of the merit list of the candidates who appear in the Joint Entrance Examination of Polytechnics (JEXPO) conducted by West Bengal State Council of Technical Education (WBSCTE). Advertisement regarding JEXPO appears in leading newspapers every year well in advance mentioning date and time of the examination. Generally, the forms are made available at Jalpaiguri Polytechnic Institute in the month of November-December and the examination is conducted in the month of March-April. Remaining 40% of the total seats are filled up on the basis of marks obtained in the Madhyamik Pariksha or its equivalent or any other examination approved by the WBSCTE (POLY-40).These seats are to be filled up on the basis of district wise quota. The detail mode of filling up seats through POLY-40 is as per public notification by the WBSCTE/Government of West Bengal from time to time. Advertisement regarding distribution of forms of POLY-40 also appears in the leading newspapers well in advance. Generally, the forms are made available at Jalpaiguri Polytechnic Institute in the month of May-June and the counseling based on the merit list is done at Jalpaiguri Polytechnic Institute in the month of August.
