CSSM was founded in the year 1998 as Marine Engineering College, with approval from DGS, Ministry of Shipping Road Transport & Highways, Govt. of India.CSSM is the only institution in India offering the Alternate Training Scheme (ATS) - The ATS course is a globally recognized 3-year residential Marine Engineering course based on the International Maritime Organization (IMO) guidelines through Model Course 7.04 under STCW 2010 regulations.
Spacious campus, well furnished classrooms, Engineering Drawing Halls, Audiovisual Room, Machine Shop, Fitting Shop, Welding Shop, Marine Workshop including a Marine Diesel Engine, Electrical Lab, Hydraulics & Refrigeration Labs, Computer Lab, Well-equipped Library with access to newspapers, periodicals and marine magazines.

CSSM assists cadets to join as 5th Engineers through Campus Interview after completion of ATS and passing Class IV Part A exams conducted by D.G. Shipping.
