Haldia Institute of Maritime Studies and Research has been set up to train cadets for rewarding carrier in the Merchant Navy. It is the first Maritime Institute in Eastern India conducting core pre-sea training. The institute has added advantage of being located in the vicinity of Haldia Dock Complex.Haldia Dock Complex has emerged as the core activity centre in Kolkata Port Trust and handled nearly 34 million tones of cargo in 2011 – 2012. All kinds of vessels call at Haldia which offers wide opportunity to our cadets for varied experiences and hand-on training.

Eligibility
The cadet must pass (10+2) or equivalent securing minimum 60% in PCM (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) & 50% in English either in (10+2) or 10th standard.

Age limit: Not more than 20 years as on 1st October of admission year.
Physical Standard: The candidate must be medically fit and should meet the Medical Requirements as per M. S. Rule 2000
Eye Sight: Vision should be 6/6 (normal) in each eye separately without visionary aid and no colour blindness.
