Raja Balwant Singh College, Agra formerly known as Balwant Rajput College, is known for its phenomenal epoch making progress. This institution started as a small boarding house for 20 students, way back in 1885 in the out house of "The Kotla House" in Bagh Farzana Area of Civil Lines, Agra. The credit for the same goes to Late Raja Balwant Singh ji, Ruler of Awagarh Estate and the Founder of this institution, to get the Boarding House recognised as High school in 1899, from where the first batch of students appeared at the Matriculation examination of Allahabad University in 1901.The High School was raised to level of an Intermediate College in 1928 and to that of a degree college in 1940.
The Faculty of Engineering and Technology, R.B.S college, Bichpuri(Agra) was started in the year 1996 with three branches of engineering viz., Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Food Technology and was affiliated to Dr. B.R.Ambedkar University, Agra. The branch of Chemical Engineering was added in the year 1999. From the year 2000, the F.E.T was affiliated to Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU), Lucknow established by the Government of Uttar Pradesh on 8th May 2000 vide Act No. 1248(2)XVII-V-I-I-19-2000 Uttar Pradesh Adhiniyam Sankhya 23 of 2000. The AICTE , State Government and Mahamaya Technical University (MTU), Noida has conveyed the approval of the council to integrate the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Faculty of Pharmacy and Faculty of Architecture and Town Planning into one campus and officially changed the name of Faculty of Engineering and Technology, R.B.S College, Bichpuri, Agra into the name of Raja Balwant Singh Engineering Technical Campus, Bichpuri, Agra (UP)-283105.
The college has a well-equipped air-conditioned library to cater to the needs of staff and students . This Library has Thirty Thousand (30,000) books and 5000 Titles. Various Journals of Technology and Sciences are also available. This library contributes to about One hundred and Forty five journals including Forty Six foreign journals and twenty-two magazines.
Hostel Facility
The hostels at Bichpuri, accommodate nearly 1250 students in spacious, well ventilated and well furnished rooms equipped with adequate furniture. Four hostels for boys and One separate hostel for girls are available for students of B.Tech. and M.Tech. There is provision of RO water plants and Generator Backup facility in case of Power Failure in all the hostels. The hostels are fully safe and enclosed with boundary wall and have the provisions of Indoor and Outdoor games and recreation facilities for the students.
Scholarship Facility
Every year Scholarship is provided to all the eligible students under the scholarship scheme run by the state government for the Schedule Caste, Schedule Tribes, Minority, Backward Class & General Category students. A competent scholarship cell is working round the year to ensure that every eligible student gets the benefit of the scholarship scheme and every necessary information is communicated to the students as and when provide by the state government.
We strongly believe in the creation of human resource with training of intellectual minds. For this the Training and Placement Department has started Personality Development Program (PDP) with the help of professionals and experts from the industry and academics .This Personality Development Program aims at identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the student. The motive is to develop their soft skills, Communication, English speaking, general aptitude in order to bring about n overall personality development. The Training and Placement department works relentlessly towards achieving the ultimate goal of students employment in various industries & to promote self entrepreneurship through which they can achieve phenomenal success. The department organizes various activities & workshops on a regular basis that enable students to be effective team leaders.
