Sriram Polytechnic College was established in the year 1984 at Perumalpattu Village in Tiruvallur District with approval of Government of Tamil Nadu in G.O.Ms.No.365 (Edn) Dated:29-04-1984 with an aim to help the down-trodden, minority telugu speaking people and to uplift the educational standard of the Village based populations.
Auditorium: The college is having a huge indoor auditorium with a professionally-deployed acoustic system and a seating capacity of about 1200 people. This auditorium has an immense pride of having hosted several National Level Symposia and Conferences. There is also a mini-auditorium with a pleasing acoustic system and a seating capacity of about 300 people to host campus-level events.
Library: The Sriram College of Arts and Science Library is the soul of the institution and it acquires, processes, preserves and disseminates information to the user community with the motto of empowering knowledge. It has an extensive collection of books, reference materials for satisfying the academic and research needs of the students and faculty. The Library and Information Centre consists a Reference Section, Circulation Section, Periodical Section. The library has automated all its library activities to provide effective and wide range of academic resources such as books, journals, online databases.New Suggestions: The library always encourages all students and faculty to recommend new books in order to strengthen their collection. The students and faculty members can also suggest new titles by completing necessary formalities.
Transport: The college is located very near to Veppampattu Railway Station and it is 35 Km from Chennai Central easily accessible by rail and road. Bus No 54V from T. Nagar to Veppampattu and Poonamalle to Veppampattu is available every half an hour once. The college also operates buses covering different location as listed below.
Canteen: A modern kitchen with separate dining halls for staff and students spread in a area of 3900 Sq. M. wholesome and hygienic food is provided at a nominal cost. R.O water for drinking & cooking and treated filtered water for all other purposes.Bank Facilities: City Union Bank has opened an extension counter in the campus.
Hostel Facility
Hostel Facilities Available: The college is having fully furnished separate hostels for boys and girls. The Boys Hostel can accommodate 250 students and the Girls Hostel, 150 students. Both hostels are facilitated with well-equipped Gyms to provide the students an opportunity to keep themselves physically fit. A common mess complex with a Bio-gas Plant for cooking purposes and a plinth area of 3800 sqm is available to accommodate dining halls for boys, girls, staff and guests separately. Government Certified visiting doctor Dr. B. Srinivasan ensures prompt solutions to health problems of the inmates. 24hrs Reverse Osmosis plant water supply to the hostel, mess and the entire campus.
