Application Procedure for JEE(Main)

In order to appear in JEE (Main) and/or JEE (Advanced), the candidates are required to apply only online. The candidates are further advised to visit the website before filling up the application form for ascertaining their eligibility for appearing in examination as well as for admission.

The online submission of particulars, uploading of scanned photograph, signature and thumb impression may be made at JEE (Main) website. The candidates should supply all the required details while filling up the online form. On submission of details, a Acknowledgement Page with Application No. shall be generated.

Candidates are required to take printout of Acknowledgement Page and paste photograph, put left hand thumb impression, sign and write down the Residential Address at appropriate places provided for these purposes. The Confirmation Page then must be signed by a parent/guardian and by a gazetted officer/principal of the last institution attended. Duly completed Confirmation Page is to be sent by Registered/Speed Post to The Executive Director, JEE (Main) Secretariat, Central Board of Secondary Education, PS-1- 2, Institutional Area, I.P.Extn. Patparganj, Delhi-110 092. The application fee payment can be made:

(a) by credit/debit card, or
(b) by depositing fee in cash in the Syndicate/Canara/ICICI/HDFC bank through e-challan generated during the online filling of application form.

Before filling up the application form the candidate should have a scanned image of his/her photograph, signature and left hand thumb impression (right hand thumb in case the candidate do not have left hand thumb or any finger if both thumbs are not there). These scanned images are to be uploaded during the submission of application form. The photograph should be colour or b/w (but clear contrast) with name of the candidate and date of taking the photograph printed on it as shown below. It should be without cap or goggles. Spectacles are allowed. Polaroid photos are not acceptable. Candidates with unclear photograph are liable to be rejected. Candidates may keep 6-8 identical photographs in reserve for use at the time of entrance examination, Seat Allocation Process and Admission.

All the candidates who have submitted the online application and paid the examination fee till last date will be allowed to appear in JEE (Main) and their admit cards will be uploaded on the website as per schedule. The JEE (Main) secretariat/CBSE do neither verify the information filled by the candidates in the application form nor verify any certificate of category/educational qualification for deciding the eligibility of candidates. The certificates of educational qualification and category (if applied under reserved category) will be verified by the concerned institution. The candidates are, therefore, advised to ensure their eligibility and the category (if applying under reserved category). The CBSE will, in no way, be responsible for any wrong/incorrect information furnished by the candidate(s) in their online application form. The letter/e-mails in this regard will not be entertained by JEE (Main) secretariat /CBSE.

Admit Card for JEE (Main)

After successful registration and payment of required fee through bank, the candidates can download their admit card for JEE (Main) from JEE (Main) website. PRIOR TO DOWNLOADING THE ADMIT CARD, THOSE CANDIDATES WHO DID NOT PROVIDE THE ROLL NUMBER OF THEIR CLASS 12th/OTHER QUALIFYING EXAMINATIONS WILL BE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE SO. The candidates are advised to download their admit cards from JEE (Main) website only. The Candidates are also advised to regularly see JEE (Main) website for updates.

Score and Result for JEE (Main)

The score of JEE (Main) shall comprise of the actual marks obtained in JEE (Main) along with the status of those who qualify for appearing in JEE (Advanced) provided and subject to other conditions of eligibility being met.

Separately, on the basis of score in JEE (Main) and normalised score in Class 12th or other qualifying exam (60% & 40% weightage respectively), separate rank lists will be prepared for admission to B.E./B.Tech. and B.Arch/ B.Planning (in institutions other than IITs). JEE (Main) Rank Card indicating All India Rank, State Rank and Category Rank with total marks and marks in each paper will be available on JEE (Main) website after the declaration of result.

Only the All India Rank (AIR) is used for admissions through Central Seat Allocation Board to NITs/ IIITs/ CFTIs/ SFIs/ Others, while other ranks are for information purposes.

No score/rank card will be dispatched to the candidates and the candidates are advised to download their score/rank cards from the JEE (Main) website.

In case of a tie, i.e. when two or more candidates obtain equal marks (by giving 60% weightage to performance in JEE (Main) and 40% weightage to normalised marks in Class 12th or other qualifying examination), inter-se merit of such candidates shall be decided in the following order:

Rank list for admission to B.E/B.Tech(in institutions other than IITs)

Rank list for admission to B.Arch/B.Planning(in institutions other than IITs)

The OMR answer sheets of all the candidates along with the responses captured will be put on JEE (Main) website for verification by the candidates.

All participating institutes that do not use the centralised counselling procedures will prepare their own ranking based on the performance in JEE(Main) and other criteria as decided by them.
