The Sainsbury Laboratory (TSL) offers the prestigious David Sainsbury Scholarships in Global Plant Health to a limited number of applicants on the MSc in Global Plant Health.

Provisions

The full cost of the tuition fee (£33,150 for 2024-25) ,maintenance grant (exact value at the UKRI postgraduate researcher stipend level to be determined for 2024-25; in 2023-24 it was £18,622) an additional £4,000 for travel costs (subject to valid economy class travel receipts)

Eligibility Criteria :

You are eligible for a full scholarship under these terms if you meet all these criteria:

You are in receipt of an offer of a place on the UEA MSc in Global Plant Health
You are a national of or domiciled in a least-developed, low-income, or lower-middle-income country or territory as defined by the Overseas Development Agency Development Assistance Committee (DAC) list, version 2024-25 for entry in 2024-25 academic year.

There are a limited number of scholarships available and these will be awarded throughout the year, so you are advised to apply early.

Application Process

The David Sainsbury Full MSc Scholarship is offered to a restricted number of candidates applying for the MSc in Global Plant Health. This scholarship encompasses the entire tuition fee (£31,500), includes a maintenance grant, and provides an extra £4,000 to cover travel expenses.

Provided you meet the eligibility criteria, you will automatically be considered for the scholarship, on a competitive basis - no separate application is required.
You will be evaluated for the scholarship based on the same criteria used to evaluate your application to enrol on the course. The criteria are: academic achievement and academic awards together with knowledge/experience/potential of molecular biology, genetics, molecular interactions, data science such as bioinformatics and statistics, laboratory skills, and independent study.

How to apply

Application for the UEA India Award is part of the application procedure for thePostgraduate Taught programme. On the application form we ask whether you want to be considered for a UEA scholarship. Please check this box if you want to be considered and if you fulfill all requirements mentioned above.

Furthermore, you should include a paragraph in your motivation letter in which you explain why you wish to be nominated for the UEA India Award, and what it would mean for your future academic career..

After applying, the coordinators of the Postgraduate Taught Programmes decide which students qualify to apply for the scholarship. All students will be informed as soon as possible.
