Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Friendship Ph.D Scholarship

Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is offering Scholarship for graduates or expected graduates of IITH for pursuing PhD program at Japanese Universities. The aim of the scholarship is to motivate the students for the World-Class Research Network between Higher Education Institutions / Industrial clusters of Japan and IITH, whereby both can establish educational and research excellence in the field of science, technology and engineering in the future. This scholarship is based on agreement between Govt. of Japan and Govt. of India.

Scholarship Description

This scholarship is available for FY2020 and FY2021 ('Fiscal Year - FY' A period that a company or government uses for accounting purposes and preparing financial statements. The fiscal year may or may not be the same as a calendar year. ) and will cover Tuition Fees, Living Allowance, Airfare, Insurance and other allowance in accordance with the regulation of JICA. The scholarship is Available for 10 students/year (20 nos./2 years) .

Kyushu University

Nagoya University

Osaka University

Ritsumeikan University

The University of Tokyo

Tohoku University

Waseda University

Eligibility:

The candidates should be:

Citizens of India
Mentally and physically in sound
Graduates or expected graduates of IITH
Good command of English to a level sufficient for study in Japan
Must have a clear understanding of the overall goal of the Project
Must not be those who will receive another scholarship through other foreign assistance at the same time

Military personnel are NOT allowed to apply

Age : Between 20 and 30 years old as of April 1 in the year of the participants arrival in Japan in principle (Note: If University and/or course has its own limitation for age, which takes priority over this qualification)

The Candidates should fill the application form of IITH-Japan NEW Scholarship and send it by Data File in MS Word or PDF by e-mail to scholarship@friendship.iith.ac.in or the Printed Copy by post to Miki Matsuo (Ms.) Project Coordinator / Industry-Academia Collaboration Coordinator, Room #147, Lavender Block, L&T Serene County, Urdu University Road, Telecom Nagar, Gachibowli, Hyderabad, 500032

The candiates are shortlisted and the selected candidates are call for an interview at Japan by email. The expenses of travel cost to Hyderabad, accommodation etc. is borne in accordance with the regulation of JICA. The eligible students for scholarship will receive a notification.
