Committed to providing management education aspirants with the best suitable admission opportunities both in India and abroad, the Graduate Management Admission Council ® (GMAC®), owner of the GMAT ® exam and NMAT by GMAC™ exam, recently announced a combined record delivery of nearly 100,000 tests to Indian citizens, in 2015.
GMAC® had acquired ownership of the NMAT exam from NMIMS University in March 2015 and had rebranded it as NMAT by GMAC™. Registrations for NMAT by GMAC™ reached an all-time high in 2015 as more than 70,000 tests were delivered during the testing phase. With no major changes in the exam format, the test was conducted within a 75-day window format from October 6, 2015 to December 19, 2015. Test takers included 38 percent women and 43percent non-engineers.
The number of GMAT exams taken by Indian citizens during 2015 also reached an all-time high - nearly 30,000. D esigned for graduate business and management programs, GMAT is available at 630 test centers across 115 countries worldwide. In India, the share of women test takersrecorded in 2015 was 29 percent, up from 27 percent a year prior. In addition, 40 percent of all GMAT test takers were below the age of 25. Students from diverse backgrounds - science, business and commerce, humanities, social sciences and other majors - appeared for the GMAT exam, as well as engineers (64 percent). More than 120 business schools accept the GMAT in India.
"We are very pleased with the response received for the NMAT by GMAC™
exam in the very first year under our ownership," said Ashish Bhardwaj,
Vice President, Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa, at GMAC. "The heartening
fact is the increased number of women test takers wanting to enter the management
space and opting to take the NMAT by GMAC™ or the GMAT exam to seek admission
to business school."
In order to become more accessible to the undergraduate aspirants and building
on its promise to deliver the best to its test takers, GMAT opened eight new
testing centers in various undergraduate campuses across the country in 2015.
GMAC has increased the number of test centers to 28 spread across 25 cities.
Gaurav Srivastava, Regional Director, South Asia , at GMAC, said, "Given
the surge of master's programs that require no experience and programs that
offer deferred admission for undergraduate students, these new centers will
help in making the GMAT exam become more accessible to students in and around
the campus. This development will also aid students in attempting the exam at
their own convenience without having to travel long distances."
