Haryana Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Anil Vij said Sports School, Rai will be upgraded as an university, where the sportspersons would be provided world-class facilities for all sports.
He said that 20 sports nurseries would be opened in each district of the state, which would be established either in private or government schools and the state government would give Rs 1.25 lakh to eligible schools for the development of infrastructure.
Vij said that there would also be a provision of monthly allowance of Rs 1,500 to players and monthly salary to the coaches.
The Minister said the offer of Indian Olympic Association (IOA) for holding National Games in Haryana was being seriously considered but there were some hindrances due to the ongoing dispute in Haryana Olympic Association. "However, efforts were being made to resolve the issue," he added.
He said the Central Government has also offered Haryana to host National Youth Fest and the proposal was also being considered.
The Minister said that each of the player who had participated in Rio Olympics would soon be given a cash reward of Rs 15 lakh.
