Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology(GJUST), Hisar is one of the potential universities to achieve the status of 'Institute of Eminence'.

Prof Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor told that the Secretary, Higher Education had an interaction with the heads of various eligible institutes through video-conferencing, with regard to procedure of submitting proposals to get the status of 'Eminence'. It is a matter of pride for us that our university has achieved such a remarkable position in the country and being scrutinised for this status testimony for the same, he added.

Under this unique initiative, the government plans to set-up twenty world class research and teaching institutions for quality research and innovation. Once selected for the status of Eminence, the university would get a grant of Rs 1000 crore over a period of 10 years, over and above its regular grants. With an aim to set-up all-India character comprising international standards, this scheme would open-up new vistas for globally recognized education in the university.

Prof Tankeshwar Kumar told that a special committee has already been set up to chalk out various plans and proposals to be submitted to UGC within this month. The university has to submit a detailed strategic vision plan for fifteen years and a five year implementation plan along with SWOT analysis, focusing on the present research, teaching, administrative and infrastructural status, he informed. The recent extension of 'A' grade by NAAC for further two years would be an impetus to our efforts in this regard said Prof. Kumar. The Vice-Chancellor appealed to all his employees to put their best to sustain the momentum of gradual success in order to achieve new position on the international map.
