Kala Academy to start BPA, MPA in Theatre course

Kala Academy will start Bachelor of Performing Art (BPA) and Master of Performing Art (MPA) in Theatre from the academic year 2019-20.

Addressing a press conference at Kala Academy in the city on Monday, Goa Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude said, ''Goa University has granted us affiliation to start Bachelor of Performing Art and Master of Performing Art in Theater from academic year 2018-19. While the BPA will be of four years, MPA will be of two years.''

''The Bachelor and Master Courses will have 30 students each and classes will be conducted in the premises of Kala Academy. There is no age bar. The prospectus will be available from June 4 and admission will be open to all the students who have passed 12 standard in any stream for BPA course and Bachelor Degree in any stream for MPA course,'' he said.

Mr Gaude said Kala Academy would also start a one year bridge course in Performing Arts. ''We are also going to start a bridge course for those who want to do Master in Performing Arts (MPA). Its a one year course which will be started from academic year,'' he said.

He said process of appointment of Principal and other staff would be started soon.

He said the Academy had received no objection certificate for all the three courses-- Bachelor of Performing Arts, Master of Performing Arts and Bridge course.
