Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today said the state government was committed to ensure autonomy of universities and colleges should also be granted autonomy for the sake of quality education to students, without uncalled administrative interference.
Mr Kumar, inaugurating the newly setup Munger University here, the state government was making all sincere steps to provide quality education to students and a number of universities, engineering colleges, medical colleges and para medical institutions would come up in Bihar in days ahead. "We do not interfere in autonomy of universities, and only make suggestions. I feel, colleges should also be moved towards autonomy," the Chief Minister opined. The Bihar government had constituted state education finance corporation to provide loans to students aspiring to pursue higher education, he said and added that education loans up to Rs four lakhs would be given at annual interest of four per cent to boys and at nominal interest of one percent to physically challenged students and girls.
