Govt. College of Engineering and Textile Technology, Serampore, is one of the pioneer institutions in India in the field of Engineering and Technology. The college was formerly known as College of Textile Technology, Serampore and it was established in 1908.
The Institute started with a certificate course in Weaving. After that in the year 1926 Women's section started in separate premises. Institute started B.Sc(Tech) degree course in Textile Technology. Meanwhile, B.Sc degree turned into B.Tech in the year 1962 and started M.Tech in Mechanical Processing of Textiles.
In the year 2000, It opened new stream Information Technology, Next year i.e. 2001 Computer Science & Technology stream was opened successfully.
Hostel Facility
The college has four storied well-equipped hostel building within college campus. Hostel accommodation is available depending on the vacancy of seat. The hostel and mess of the hostel is run by a hostel committee consisting of Superintendent, staff member and students.
