L.G.B. Girls' College, the premier women's college in central Assam, since its establishment in the year 1979 it has been striving sincerely to spread women's education in Assam and recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2(f) and 12(b) in July 2012. It is situated in an urban setting established with the objective of giving boost to female education in the district of Sonitpur that is inhabited by people belonging to OBC/SC/ST/Minority categories besides a sizable number of tea garden labourers.
Library: The College has an excellent library with spacious reading rooms for teachers and students. It includes a book bank and contains over 12,000 books and a lot of journals and magazines.The library provides reprography facilities to the students at cheaper rates.
Girls' Common Room :The College has a spacious Assam Type common room for girls with the facility of clean toilets with uninterrupted water supply and arrangement of indoor games including the game of table-tennis and carom.
College Canteen : The College has a hygienic and well-maintained canteen where students, teachers and employees of the college can appease their hunger and thirst and gossip - be it in the canteen itself or under the beautiful shady trees near it.
