The inception of Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady in 1993, was rather a belated translation into reality of a unique idea conceived by a committee in the early 1970s, headed by the late K.P. Achyuta Menon, a former Civil Servant and a Sanskrit Scholar in his own right. The University with its headquarters at Kalady, the birth place of Adi Sankara had a geographical spread throughout Kerala, including Thiruvananthapuram, the Capital city of God’s own country. The city has occupied a pride of place for more than a century in the educational history of Kerala and it is only appropriate that it housed one of the early Regional Campuss of the University
