Sarat Centenary College

It was the ardent zeal for advancement of higher education that the people of Dhaniakhali to establish Sarat Centenary College, named after one of the greatest Bengali novelists,Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay, in 1976 as a Junior College with the Higher Secondary Course which was later upgraded into a Degree College in 1978 with all the three streams Arts, Science and Commerce being affiliated under the University of Burdwan. The college stands at the heart of Dhaniakhali. It is under grants-in-aid Scheme of the Government of West Bengal. The College campus extends over an area of 03 acres.The college provides Honours in Bengali, Sanskrit, English, Political Science, Philosophy, History, Geography, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology and Accountancy. General courses offered by the college are Bengali, Sanskrit, Santali, English, Political Science, Philosophy, Education, History, Geography, Physical Education, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology and Commerce. Some vocational courses like Communicative English, Computer Basics, Tailoring-Knitting etc. have been introduced from the session 2015-2016. Moreover, a Women Study Centre is functioning with the task of awareness about Gender Biases.

Library: The library building comprises of three rooms with sufficient light and space. The system is now fully computerized. The library contains more than 21,000 books, journals and magazines. Besides this the Library has access to Inflibnet facility through which students can access 31,35,000+ e-books and 6,000+ e-journals. Bengali and English daily newspapers, job oriented news papers and bulletins like Karmakhetra, Karmasansthan, Employment News etc. are also available in the library.Syllabi, university question papers are also available. There is a separate reading room for the students in the library. The number of books increases every year. The institute is interested to link-up with the repository and information system at global scenario thorough internet facility.
Sports and Games: A large playground is present inside the campus premises for games and sports events like football, cricket, volleyball etc.
 
 Scholarship Facility
Provides Scholarships: The institute always extends help to the students to avail various types of scholarship as and when available from Government and other authorities like B.C.W Department, Labour Welfare Department, WBMDFC, Jindal etc. The college also helps the students with various kinds of assistance like Kanyashree etc. A large number of students of our college are benefitted from such scholarships.
