MGSM Janta College

MGSM Janta College Kartarpur came into existence in 1972 through the benign vision & guidance of late Master Gurbanta Singh Ji whose whole life is a saga of perpetual fight for the rights of marginalized people. Through his acute visionary insight, he laid the foundation of this academic institution with a view to catering the need of the rural population of this region so that in times to come the students could relish the fruits of education and the consequent benefits in the fast changing times. After the demise of this illustrious founder president his son Ch. Jagjit Singh has borne the responsibility of nurturing this institution with his exceptional diligence and dedication. His untiring efforts have resulted in the overall development of this institute which has acquired envious heights in different spheres. The introduction of Commerce, Computer Application, Computer Science at Post Graduate level, and other Post-Graduate streams have added academic excellence to this institution and it is making rapid strides in various academic fields. The college has excelled in sports, extra-curricular activities and has won laurels at University competitions. In academic field also the students have achieved distinction at University exams.

Library: A Library is the soul of an academic Institution. Its role is to support, supplement and enrich the formal classroom teaching by providing various services. Library plays an active role in this direction and provides various information services. A team of professionally qualified staff members, headed by a Chief Librarian, and other qualified staff manages the Library.
Sports Facility: The importance of sports and games in college encompasses more than just the benefit of physical activity. Increases in self-esteem and mental alertness make school sports and games necessary for every school age child.Games and sports are an integral part of a student’s life. A student should study hard to be successful in competitive examinations. But, he should also play games and sports to enjoy the health and vigor of life.
Bus Facility: A fleet of buses provide uninterrupted transport facility to the students, faculty, staff and visitors. The MGSM College presently maintains a convoy of various buses. This extends the pick and drop transportation facility to students within a radius of about 50 km adjoining the city of Kapurthala.
