The State Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (SIHMCT), formerly known as Food Craft Institute (FCI) situated at Thuvakkudi, Tiruchirappalli, Tamilnadu, South India was established on 01/10/1981 by Govt. of India on the land and building transferred from the then Regional Engineering College, Tiruchirappalli (Now National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli) measuring 26.57 acres with a building measuring 15,600 sq.ft. It is registered under Societies Act, 1975. It is jointly sponsored by the Govt. of India and Govt.of.Tamil Nadu. It was upgraded from Food Craft Institute to State Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology on 15.12.1998.
Hostel Facility
The College Provides Hostel Facilities for Boys and Girls separately. They are strictly monitored by the Deputy Warden. The Hostel inmates are provided with nutritious meals throughout their stay.
The Institute has a Career Counseling and Job Placement Cell, which invites more than 30 leading hoteliers to conduct Campus Interviews and place the students. The institute has achieved 100% placement record. The Cell interacts with reputed Organisations/ Hotels in order to arrange campus Interviews for placement of Final Year DIPLOMA & Final Year B.Sc., Degree students, Craftmenship Student and Diploma students. The Placement Cell also arranges Industrial Exposure training for the Students. The Student visit the Hotels and production unit to gain first hand work experience of various activities of the Hotel Industry.
