St. John the Baptist's College of Education

Bearing in mind this noble role and call of the teachers Mar Joseph Powathil, the great visionary in education pioneered St.John the Baptist’s College of Education in 1995. His vision of bringing all teacher education courses in the campus was made successful with the addition of Teacher Training Course(TTC) in 2004, Pre-Primary Teacher Training Course(PPTTC) in 2006 and the Master of Education Course(M Ed) in 2007. We are proud being one of the only two colleges running all the teacher education programmes in Kerala. St.John the Baptist’s College of Education is a Christian Minority Institution managed by the Archdiocese of Changanacherry.

LIBRARY:The college is proud of its fully computerized library which saves the time of the students in spotting the required book and getting it issued without any delay. A certain portion of the library is set apart for digital library having 24 hours internet access which has turned out to be a must for the updating of students as well as the teachers. Facility for Xeroxing is available in the library.
LABORATORY: Laboratories are the sources of experience through experimentation. Well-equipped labs are established for the students for providing them with experience which are essential for their professional career. The important ones are the science labs, psychology lab, language lab, computer lab and technology lab.
XEROX COPY: Facilities for Xerox Copying with Computer Connectivity:- Facilities of a Xerox copying machine with computer Connectivity are provided in the library for the students. The facilities can be availed at nominal rates.
COUNSELLING CENTRE: Teacher is a guide for all students and the teachers must be trained in this respect. For this purpose the college has set up a counselling centre which provides counselling for the students and also train them in this field. It is done in collaboration with ACCEPT Alappuzha recognized by the Govt. of India.
COMPUTER COURSE:Computers have turned out to be the best teaching aid in this world of technology and teachers have left with no option other than to be proficient in this area. So the college is conducting a free computer training course in collaboration with Mediasys Changanacherry
CAREER GUIDANCE:Career guidance cell is keeping the students abreast of current vacancies in respective fields by searching various web sites and scanning newspapers. The cell is linked to Yuvadeepti career guidance centre and they provide career guidance classes for the students. A number of schools of different parts of the nation often request us for teachers and a campus interview is conducted on the second saturday of May every year
INTERNET FACILITY: Internet is a vast source of information in the modern era and its use has become a must for educational institution. Being aware of it the college has arranged 24 hours internet connectivity with broadband connection. Student can avail this facility free of cost at the library.
