Women's Christian College

Women's Christian College, Chennai ranked 10th at the All India level among the best colleges in the Arts and Science category in the NIRF rating by the Ministry for Human Resource Development was founded in 1915 by the combined effort of 12 Missionary Societies from Britain, Canada and the United States of America. The mission of the college is to provide “a complete, meaningful and relevant education to women so that they are intellectually well-trained, morally upright, socially aware and spiritually inspired.” Autonomous since 1982, WCC is affiliated to the University of Madras and has been accredited by NAAC with an ‘A’ Grade in 2005 and 2012. The College was awarded the prestigious status of College with Potential for Excellence by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in 2016, a fitting testimony to the remarkable progress made in the last century

The college Library is the nerve centre of all the academic activities of the college. The students and the faculty make profound use of the information resources and services offered by the college library.The Library aims at catering to the information needs of its clientele for their curricular, co-curricular and extra curricular activities. The well stacked and regularly updated information resources and services mainly concentrate on providing the right information to its users at the right time with the newly updated technological innovations.

Government Scholarships for BC / MBC / SC / ST communities are provided. Management Scholarships are available on merit-cum means basis. Children of missionaries / pastors / evangelists will be given special consideration

The Career Guidance cell which was established in the year 1998 serves as a vital link between the students of the college and the potential employers of Industry. It focuses on widening the job prospects for those students who want to launch themselves in a career and to sharpen the knowledge about the courses available for those who want to pursue higher studies. Four members of the faculty along with the student representatives from all departments, coordinate the various activities of the cell.
