DAV College of Education for Women

The institution, originally founded by Shri Balak Ram Kapoor in the year 1956, under the name of Saraswati Training College, is situated in the heart of the city of Amritsar. The college was renamed as DAV College of Education for Women in 1967. The credit for having brought the institution from virtually a non-entity to the present status of a prestigious institution, known for its high academic and moral standards, goes to stalwarts of DAV College Managing Committee. The institution has been on fast track of unprecedented progress due to relentless efforts put in by its dynamic principals like Mrs. V. Puri, Ms. Pushpa Bhatia, Mr. Kanwal , Mrs. R.L. Sethi, Mrs. Mohinder Bhalla, Dr. (Mrs.) K.K Gupta, Dr. (Mrs.) Aruna Anand and staff under the leadership of DAV College Managing Committee ,New Delhi . Keeping up the tradition set up these eminent and dedicated principals at present Mrs. Vaneeta Garg has taken over the charge from September, 2011 as officiating Principal of the College

The college library has large number of books of latest edition, Reference books, Encyclopedias, Dictionaries, Year Books, Dissertations, Reports of important commissions and committees, Magazines, Newspapers, Journals, Bound Volumes of old Journals, Monographs of selected articles, Souvenirs of different Seminars / Conferences, Lists of research Material available in Punjab University Library document related with NPE, Five Year Plan etc. College Magazine “The Richa” and Student Land book published every year. Well equipped technology lab with teaching learning material - teaching aids, Projectors, Learning material – Audio/video teaching aids, Projectors, LCD & Overhead projector, T.V., C.D. player etc. The lab provides excellent materials to be used as support system for teaching / paper presentation / holding seminars to the students
 
 Hostel Facility
The institute provides a hostel facility. Approximately 150 students can be accomodated. Hostel has latest facilities like - TV with cable, CD player, Telephone, indoor games, Generator Facility, Geysers, water purifier, water coolers etc. Hostel has reading corner with facilities of newspapers and Magazines and other books in common room. A Nursing home is attached to the college hostel as well.
