The College of Veterinary sciences & Animal Husbandry, one of the constituent colleges of the CAU was established through the promulgation of an ordinance (No. M-2 of 1995;dated 20th February 1995) and became functional with the admission of first batch of students to B.V.Sc. & A.H. degree course in the year 1997.

Admission Procedure
Admission to Postgraduate (M.V.Sc.) program is based on the merit of the students in the qualifying examinations and is open to all india basis. However, performence is given to the Students of North Eastern Hill region. for Twenty-Five percent of the seats, the candidate are nominated by Indian Council of Agricultural Resarch, new Delhi (ICAR) on the basis of All India JRF/PG entrance test.

The college is offering Post-Graduate programme in 17 subjects namely Veterinary Pharmacology & Toxicology, Veterinary Surgery & Radiology, Livestock Production & Managment, Animal Nutrition, Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Microbiology, Veterinary Pathology, Veterinary Gynaecology Obstetrics, Veterinary Biochemistry, Animal Genetics & Breeding.

Eligibility
or General/OBC candidates: At least 60% marks or Overall Grade Point Average (OGPA) of 7.00/10.00 or 3.75/5.00, or 3.00/4.00 in M.Sc. (Agri)/M.V.Sc.
For SC/ST/PH candidates: At least 55% marks or Overall Grade Point Average (OGPA) of 6.50/10.00 or 3.50/5.00, or 2.80/4.00 in M.Sc. (Agri./Hort.)/M.V.Sc.
 
Admission Procedure
On the basis of Entrance Test, Academic Records and Interview.The Entrance Test shall be conducted discipline-wise and the candidates have to answer 200 objective questions in 2 hr 30 min. The minimum qualifying marks in written test shall be 50 percent for General/OBC candidates and 45 percent for SC/ST/PH candidates. The candidates qualified in the written test shall be called for Interview.
