Placement Records
 

The National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS) was established by Act 27 of 2005 of the Kerala State Legislature. By the same Act, the National Institute for Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS) established by the Bar Council of Kerala Trust in 2002 merged with the NUALS. In 2008, an amendment streamlined the powers and functions of the authorities of the University and ensured the active involvement of the Government of Kerala.The University is recognized by the University Grants Commission under section 2(f) of the UGC Act.It is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

Eligibility
Candidates seeking registration to the Ph.D. programme shall hold a Master’s Degree from a recognized University with a minimum of 55% marks in the qualifying examination, or a minimum CGPA of 6.0 in the 10 point scale (or an equivalent grade in similar scales). A candidate belonging to SC/ST community shall be eligible for concession up to 5% marks in the minimum eligible marks for admission.
Candidates seeking registration shall have passed the Departmental Admission Test (DAT) and ranked as per the norms laid down in Clause 9 of the Regulations. Candidates who have qualified UGC-NET Lecturership examination are exempted from DAT. They can join for Ph.D. at any time. However, UGC-NET Lecturership candidates will be eligible for University Research Fellowship (URF) only if they qualify DAT and get ranked. Foreign students who have been sponsored under a scholarship scheme by the Government of India for undergoing Ph.D. programme in India, are also exempted from DAT. Teachers of Universities/Colleges in Kerala and teachers who are working in Quasi Government/Government Institutions recognized by the National University of Advanced Legal Studies, with a minimum continuous service of five years as permanent employees are exempted from DAT
