Sohan Lal DAV College of Education, Ambala City is a pioneering institution of Teacher Education. It has carved a niche in academic and curricular achievements coupled with service to the community. It was set up at Lahore in 1939 by Rai Bahadur Sohan Lal who was himself the founder Principal. Rai Bahadur Sohan Lal was a great author of books on Geography. In recognition of his work he was offered fellowship of Royal Society of Geography and he also was given the title of Rai Bahadur. After the partition of the country, the college was rehabilitated at Ambala City in 1954 and was handed over to the DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi.
The institute has a magnificent and spacious building. There are two large halls, a library with reading room, cabins for staff, two staff rooms, a room for Photocopier & Computer and two store rooms. The institute is growing its facilities at a continuous pace.
Hostel Facility
The college has a well-maintained girls’ hostel. It has a dinning hall and a kitchen with a capacity to serve about 40 girls at a time. The facilities attached to the hostel are a well-furnished TV Lounge, a guest room for visitors and a badminton compound. There is a provision for indoor games like Carrom Board and Table Tennis. There are two generators of the latest quality to provide power when there is electricity failure. The hostel is looked after by a lady member of the faculty, who acts as the Hostel Warden.
