The degree programme B.E in Printing Technology was started in the year 1983 for the first time in Asia as a division of Printing Technology under the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering to fulfill the need for technically qualified people in the Printing, Packaging and allied Industries. Initially, the department was supported by British Council through ODA project in establishing various laboratories like Desk Top Publishing, Plate Making, Printing Machine and Print Finishing. Books and equipment were donated and the faculty and technical staff members were also trained in various fields of Printing Technology. Later, in the year 1994, the division of Printing Technology became a full fledged department.
Laboratories like Quality Control lab, Colour Separation Lab and Packaging lab are available.The laboratories are well equipped with latest equipments to strengthen the practical knowledge in printing. These machines are used for printing and to study the quality parameters of the printed products.
