Gauhati Commerce College, situated at the northern most end of R.G. Barooah Road, Chandmari, Guwahati-781021 is one of the most promising institutions of the state of Assam and also of the entire north-east India imparting business education at Higher Secondary, Degree and Post Graduate levels. The college was founded on 10th September in the year 1962. Starting with an enrollment of meager 300 students, the college has, over the years, attained a solid state of full-fledged growth having an enrollment of 3000 plus students and registering flourishing progress on all activities, both academic and co-curricular.
Library: The college library is named after Dr. Birinchi Kumar Baruah to commemorate a literary giant of Assam and a pioneer builder of the college. Students may borrow books from the library against the Library Cards. They may read various newspaper and journals in the reading room of the library. There is a book bank facility meant for the poor and needy students.
Pay Phone: A one rupee pay phone facility is available in the college.
Canteen: The college canteen provides refreshments for the staff and students at a reasonable rate in hygienic environment.
Parking: There are two parking sheds for vehicles in the southern and northern parts of the college.
Drinking Water: Purified drinking water facility is available for all in the college.
AUDITORIUM: The college has a well equipped auditorium with a sitting capacity of about 600 named after the founder principal, Late Dr. B.C. Lahkar.
Gymnasium Hall: It has been inaugurated on 22/10/2009 by the Principal with necessary tools & equipments for physical development of students.
College Play Ground: A play ground is in the process of development in the Eastern part of the college.
Hostel Facility
The college has a Hostel for boys only. There are limited numbers of seats which are allotted strictly on merit.
