Abdulkalam College of BCA, BBA, Arts, Science and Commerce and M.Sc. (CS), and Abdulkalam English Medium Primary, Higher Primary and High School run under the able guidance of Saquafia Millat Education Society, Gadag (SM ES), a body of educationists, philanthropists and dedicated members engaged in serving the Noble Cause of Education.Registered on 26 August 2003, the SME Society with their aim to provide quality education in Arts, Science, Commerce, Computer Science, Business Administration and Management studies and to equip the young learners and the poor and weaker section of the society with vocational education to enable them to face and win the competitive world, sprang into action and started BCA college recognized by the Government of Karnataka and affiliated to Karnatak University, Dharwar, in 2007 as their first venture.
Library: Under ‘Students’ book scheme’ every student of all semesters is provided with a set of books internet facilities and laboratories wherever needed. The library is a store-house of a large and extensive collection of books, and national journals that are updated each academic year.The library will have a digital section where one can find a huge database of reputed online journals and periodicals, as well as full–text collections of faculty and document publications. The library will also have internet facilities.
Laboratories: Abdul Kalam College has equipped laboratories for various disciplines. A computer laboratory with latest monitors. We also have a dynamic audio–visual aids laboratory which ensures that each student is involved.Laboratories play a crucial part in cementing any novel idea they have learnt and these spacious student friendly labs persuade them to experiment theory and work around new concepts. The students are even sent to rural and other community postings just around 3–5 kms away from the campus, giving them exposure to real world electrnic settings.
Sports: When it comes to sports and extracurricular activities, the SMES Group gives equal prominence and importance to it as much as they do to academics. The college has extensive sports facilities for many sports. The coach encourages the students to participate in sports, indoor and outdoor games.Apart from sports, the college also encourages and motivates its students to participate in many extracurricular activities. The college has many cultural clubs and societies such as the hobby club, the literary club, the IT club, NSS clubs, cultural clubs, and musical bands. The college also has developmental cells such as the Women’s Development Cell, Atrocities’ Cell, SC-ST Cell and academic clubs as well.
Hostel Facility
Hostel Facilities Available: The colleges is proposed to have separate hostel facilities for boys & girls, The institutions will offer clean, comfortable and safe hostels for all the students on the campus. The rooms will be well–furnished with beds, study tables, cupboards, and all rooms will have attached bathrooms. House–keeping facilities will be available for the benefit of the students hailing from distant places. Hostel wardens will be will take care of their well being. Tight Security measures will be provided. The facilities provided and the atmosphere at the hostels will ensure peace of mind, which is essential for them to grow academically.
