Department of European Studies (DES) was established in December 2009 in the campus of Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal to further the University’s commitment and belief in the sans-border education in the interest of humanity. The objective of the Centre is to develop and broaden the Indo-EU relations by sharing each other’s strengths with the help of educational enterprise, fostering institutional partnerships between universities, leading to a mutually beneficial exchange of information and enhancement of common human knowledge

The course is designed to make students competent in the fundamentals of the language and to develop basic communication skills (speaking, writing, listening and reading). It also emphasizes on the lexical, grammatical and sociocultural contents and enables to interact with at the beginner’s level A1, which requires of 6 hours of classes a week.
