Saraswata Mahavidyalaya,Anantapur, was established in the year 1978 by the sincere effort of luminaries of the locality to serve the rural people of the area and was finally given the shape by the effort of Late Chandra Shekhar Panigrahi. The college started with 128 students in Arts class and was provided with intermediate teaching facility in Commerce in 1987 and in Science the college provided teaching facility up to +2 level in the year 2010. It was raised to the degree stage in Arts in the year 1988 and Commerce in the year 2008-2009.The college aims at providing qualitative education and building the character of the students. The tiny Institution with 128 students in I.A. In 1978 is now a beaming Institute with teaching facility in almost all subjects in Arts with Hons. teaching facilities in History, Political Science, Odiya, Sanskrit, Education & +3 Commerce. Besides the college adopted Yoga and Computer education (Certificate Course). The college got NAAC accreditation in 2007 for its proficiency in administration and education.The college has been getting UGC assistance from to time on various schemes.
Library: The library remains open from 10.00 A.M. to 4.00 P.M. on all working days.Students intending to receive books should submit their requisition slips containing the names of books, its author along with their library cards between the time mentioned above. Book will be issued to them within one hour of their application.Every borrower must examine the condition of the books before they are issued to him/her. Otherwise in case of mutilation discovered later, the presumption will be against the borrower.Students should return their books within 15 days of the date of issue. If the last date of return of books falls on a holiday, it may be returned to the library on the next working day.
Hostel Facility
Hostel Facilities Available: The College has one Ladies Hostel named Saraswata Chhatri Nibas which has been functioning since 2005-2006. The college cannot provided hostel accommodation to all the girls students in view of the limited number of seats i.e. only 30. The principal is the final authority in all matters relating to the hostel.
