In 1964 "North Balasore College" was established in the border of Odisha and West Bengal keeping in view of the growing population and their education upliftment. In 1968 this institution was renamed as 'Dinakrushna College' to commemorate Dinakrushna Das, the famous Oriya poet who lived in the vicinity of Jaleswar. From the initial Strength of 128, it has been marching forward step by step in the stepping stones of time and reached the new millennium.Fortunes favours the brave. Time is changing. The age of new construction begins in the history of this institution. Now the premises include a large 12000 Sq. feet two storey building that facilitates a very big Library hall with more than 30,000 books, a Reading Room along with a Journal section, a sophisticated IGNOU study center, a Staff Common Room, an Administrative Block and all Science Laboratories. On the other side of this building are Class Rooms, Gymnasium, a well furnished Conference Hall, College Canteen, Co-Operative store & Post office. The two concrete girdled square sized beautiful gardens in front of this gorgeous administrative building enhance its sanctity and beauty. The green grove, water supply facilities, two well accommodated hostels for boys and girls on either side of college cater to the needs of the students. Its infrastructure is no doubt gives the touch of an Ideal Institute of this Locality.
Library: The Dinakrushna College Library contains books arranged in to different sections and sub-sections. The members of the staff, the students of the college and other perons specially permited by the Principal may use the Library.In the year 1975-76 Book Bank Section was opened by the financial assistance of the U.G.C. and the State Governemnt.All Section of the Library remain under the over all administration of the Principal.Professor in-charge of the Library nominated by the Principal for a session, exercisees an effective control in all matteres relating to the library with the aid and advice of the Principal.The College Library Opens from 10:30 am to 4 p.m.
Hostel Facility
Hostel Facilities Available: There are two Hostels for the students of the College known as the D K College boys' hostel and D K College Ladies' Hostel. In the Boys' Hostel there is an accommodation for 57 students and in the Ladies Hostel there is an accommodation for 34 students. The Principal is the final authority in all matters relating to the Hostel. Ordinarily, he/she exercises his/her control and supervision through the superintendent who is in-charge of the day-to-day administration of the Hostel.
