Government Women’s College, Bhawanipatna was established in the year 1981, as Kalahandi Mahila Mahavidyalaya under a private management with noble purpose of spreading women education at the higher level in the backward district of Kalahandi. Subsequently recognizing its importance, the Government pleased to takeover the management of the college within a short span of the two years with effect from 22.08.1983.
