Devi Charan Baruah Girls’ College, the premier women’s college in Upper Assam, since its establishment in the year 1955 it has been striving sincerely to spread women's education in Assam. Established with the generous contributions of four illustrious sons of late Rai Bahadur Devicharan Baruah viz, Heramba Prasad Barua, Umacharan Barua, Deba Prasad Barua and Bishnu Prasad Barua, with an enrollment of only 56 students and 12 teachers the college has now fully blossomed with an enrolment of about 1800 students in both Arts and Science faculty.
Library: College Library, equipped with the latest technology and fitted with CCTV cameras has a comprehensive collection of over 50,000 books on a wide range of subjects, encyclopaedia volumes, current journals and magazines and newspapers of national importance. The open stack system, reference section, book bank, spacious reading room, are all intended to create a lively and enriching environment for students. Books can be borrowed thrice a week as per the schedule notified in the Library notice-board.
HEALTH CARE:Basic first aid facilities are available in the campus. Qualified doctors and nurses are on call to provide emergency medical attention to students during college hours. The college has a tie-up with Sanjivani Hospital which is a mere five minutes walking distance from the campus.
COMPUTER LAB: The college has established two well furnished Computer Labs equipped with PCs, bundled with latest software and operating systems.
YOGA & MEDITATION: The Yoga and Meditation programme of the college under the supervision of a trained instructor aims at developing learners mentally and physically so that they may overcome the rising level of stress among them and perform well academically.
Hostel Facility
The Devi Nivas provides comfortable and safe lodgings to a limited number of outstation students. Boarders will be in the care of the Hostel Warden and Matrons who reside on campus and are accessible at all times.
Scholarship Facility
There are a number of scolarships to students belonging to SC / ST / OBC and meritorious students offered by the State and the Central Government Scolarship money is credited to the scholar's account with SBI Jorhat Branch. No scholarship money is paid in cash.
