Centre for Biopolymer Science and Technology (CBPST) a unit of CIPET, was established at Kochi in the year 2012. CBPST is a model centre for Academic Programs in Biopolymer Science & Technology and will also focus on promoting Bio plastics and allied industries.
Kochi (colonial name Cochin) is a vibrant city situated on the south-west coast of the Indian peninsula in the breathtakingly scenic and prosperous state of Kerala, hailed as "God's Own Country". Its strategic importance over the centuries is underlined by the sobriquet Queen of the Arabian Sea. Informally, Cochin is also referred to as the Gateway to Kerala.
LABORATORIES:All CBPST laboratories are well equipped with the state of the art machineries and equipments that enable the faculty to teach the students the latest trends and technology besides providing an excellent opportunity to the students to get hands on practical training on the industrial machines.
PROCESSING LAB: The Plastics processing department of CBPST is well equipped with both the conventional processing machines as well as modern microprocessor controlled processing machines and provides a broad range of practical training to students.
TESTING LAB: The Testing Lab at CBPST - Kochi is an NABL & BIS accredited laboratory equipped with most modern machineries and equipments, is considered as one of the best testing labs in Asia. CBPST imparts hands on practical training to students on testing and quality control assignments viz plastics materials/ products/ composites testing/inspection
CAD/CAM LAB:The CAD/CAM department of CBPST is facilitated with the latest systems and software for imparting Skill development training to the Diploma / Engineering students.
LABORATORIES - SYNTHESIS, TESTING AND CHARACTERISATION, MECHANICAL:The CBPST Institute has well equipped Synthesis, Testing and Characterisation and Mechanical laboratories for conducting research activities, practicals for students. Students are trained to handle various scientific instruments like MFI, HDT, VSP tester etc. They are also trained in synthesis and analysis of various polymers.
LIBRARY:CBPST has a spacious and well equipped modern library with RFID facility with a rich collection of about 1000 volumes of books, periodicals, reports and reference material for the benefit of the students to enhance their knowledge. Digital Library helps the students to have access to the digital information resources.
VIDEO CONFERENCE:Video Conferencing facility has been provided at CBPST, Kochi to enable participation and exchange of information during scientific/ technical conferences/seminars / invited lectures /faculty meet etc.
HEALTHCARE SERVICES: CBPST provides healthcare services for all staff and students for routine checkup and counseling.
Hostel Facility
In order to accommodate outstation students, an exclusive hostel for boys & girls has been functioning at CBPST, Kochi.
