Hans Raj College is a constituent college of the University of Delhi and a premier institution of the DAV Managing Committee - the largest non-government educational organization of the country. After partition DAV Managing Committee decided to set up its institutions in India and the first to be set up was DAV College Ambala . On July 26, 1948 the college was set up in memory of Mahatma Hans Raj (1882-1938) the founder of DAV College Lahore and a pioneer in the field of education.
Hans Raj College today has a reputation for performance in academics, sports and extra-curricular activities. Rated among top ten Colleges of the country in Science, Commerce & Arts. Over the years, the College has built up grand infrastructure for its students & staff. Our facilities include a Central Library, Department libraries for Science subjects and a Book Bank for needy students. The College has six Computer Labs. and 18 Science laboratories. The College has a recently-refurbished, fully air-conditioned auditorium fitted with sound and light systems, with a seating capacity of 500 persons. Another attraction is a Seminar Room with a seating capacity of 120, fitted with sound and projection systems. The College has a hostel accommodating about 200 undergraduate boys and is fitted with solar geysers and 24 hrs. power back up. Constructional work is in full swing of the addition of 2nd floor in the college building. Common science laboratories, lecture theaters fitted with LCD projectors may cater to the needs of increasing number of students including OBC and PH students
