Founded in 1937, Kamla Raja Girls Govt. Post - Graduate College, Gwalior, is a pioneer and premier institution for women in higher education in this part of country. It was elevated to the post - graduate level in 1970 and autonomous status was conferred on it in 1995. Our objective is to make the girls emerge as empowered women, aware and worthy of facing the challenges of the fast changing modern world. We cope with in accomplishing this mission by providing a congenial and proactive atmosphere to them.National Assessment & Accreditation council, Banglore (NAAC) has accredited this college as B level (equivalent to previous * * * * grade) among autonomous colleges in 2002. Proposal for upgrading the institution as Deemed University is under consideration of the UGC. During reaccreditation process by NAAC in 2010, college has accredited again by B grade.
Standing with majestic grace in the heart of the city, the college is housed in one of the palaces of the erstwhile Scindia dynasty. It has an impressive historic main building alternated by lush green lawns, tall trees and blocks of various faculties constructed lately. It is a unique college of old and new architecture as well as picturesque natural beauty spread over a vast campus of 53714.60 sq. m. The College has a rich library with 97791 books in the Central and Departmental libraries. The central library has a group Reading Room well equipped with Research Journals, Magazines and Newspapers where students and research scholars may sit and read. The library is equipped with a photocopier so that students and scholars may get extracts of books and journals at a nominal payment. The college facilitates students with provisions for Canteen, Cycle Stand, Library with Internet and Photocopier, public utilities including toilets, water huts equipped with aqua - guard and water coolers. The cultural programme organized on annual functions are a class of their own and are televised and transmitted by the Bhopal Door-darshan.
Hostel Facility
The College has three well equipped hostels – Ganga, Kaveri and Narmada – accommodating 350 girls.
