The school is located on the bank of River Teesta at Majhitar, Rangpo, East Sikkim and is surrounded by green hills, which add to the vibrancy of the campus, and makes it an ideal place for learning.
It offers postgraduate courses in Basic Sciences and undergraduate courses in Computer Applications.

SMIT Central library has an excellent collection of books in science and technology, engineering & management and other fields of knowledge as well. Scholarly journals in the field of engineering are very important resource in the library.
SMIT is a fully residential institute with separate hostel for boys and girls, providing a home away from home to over 3000 students. There are separate students’ mess and canteen for boys and girls providing vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals and a food court for all.
