Hindustan Institute of Engineering Technology (H.I.E.T) was established in Chennai in 1966 in response to the need for non-formal technical education. Hindustan Institute of Engineering Technology is run by the Hindustan Engineering Training centre (HETC) Educational society and registered as a Technical Education Society under the Societies Act, XXI Of 1860. The institution is approved by the Director General of Civil Aviation, Government of India, for conducting Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Course and by All India Counsel for Technical Education and the Government of Tamil Nadu for conducting Diploma courses in Automobile, Computer and Mechanical Engineering courses.

1 .	Diploma in Automobile Engineering
	Eligibility Candidates should have passed SSLC / 10th Standard or any other equivalent examination approved by the DOTE, Government of Tamil Nadu. Marks no bar.

	Other Details The Department of Automobile Engineerings teaches basic subjects like English, Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Technical Drawing and Basic Workshop in the first year, Mechanics of Materials, Manufacturing Process, Fluid Mechanics & Machines, Machine design and drawing; Heat Power, Machine Tool Technology, Electrical & Electronics Engg. during second year, and Petrol engines, Diesel engines, Transmission and control system, Body building Technology, Road Transport, Industrial Management, CAD/CAM and Project work during the final year.

2 .	Diploma in Civil Engineering

	Other Details The syllabus of DCE includes basic subjects like English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Technical Drawing and Basic workshops in the first year, Basics of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, 'C' and Data Structures, Operating systems, Computer Architecture and Assembly Language Programming, Internet Concepts and Web Designing and Object Oriented Programming with Java during second year and Computer Networks and Security, Relational data base management system, PC Hardware and Servicing and project work during the third year. Electives include .Net Programming, Embedded Systems, Software Engineering and Multimedia Systems.

4 .	Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
