Higher Education for rural students was a dream at that time. This dream came true in the year 1967. The leaders of Ranebennur and surrounding villages, with their constant endeavor and efforts, established the “Ranebennur Taluka Education Society under the presidentship of Sri.V.K.Sawkar veteran social worker from Maidur in the year 1966. Sri.K B Koliwad at present the Honorable minister for Rural Water supply and Engineering Division of Rural Development Govt. of Karnataka has been advising as Honorary Secretary for the society since 1966. R.T.E.Society’s Arts and Science College came into existence in the year 1967. The College started its academic activities at a small municipal building with a few number of teachers. Dr.K G Shastri was the first principal of the college had given a strong foundation to the Institution.Just within a short period after the establishment of the college, students from Rural & Urban areas in a large number, started to get education. It was highly impossible for teachers and members of the society to manage the students in a small accommodation, In the year 1967, a Philanthropist Shri Bristappa Naik with his two liberal daughters Kumari Puspa & Shoba Bistappa Naik with their bounty had donated about 28 acres of land for the erection of new college building to uplift education for boys and girls of Ranebennur Taluka.
Library: To go beyond provincial proclivities and to develop a free mind we have the best minds of the world speaking to our students through books. In our well equipped library we have More than 39267 books on all subjects including 38 Periodicals, 3 Magazines and 09 Newspapers from all over the country. Our library has a spacious independent building. The Students can sit here undisturbed and read the books of their choice. Computer Lab: There is a well equipped air conditioned computer lab with internet facilities the students can avail all the latest software in Information Technology, The LAB houses thirty students at a time to study computer technology. The well qualified staffs are always on their toes to help the students to develop their computer skills Through LCD projector.
Sports Facility: The college is having a separate ground for Ball Badminton, volley Ball kho kho ,basket ball cricket, kabaddi, foot ball etc Indoor games like table tennis carom, chess etc .are also provided for both Boys & Girls. Gymnastic instruments are also available in the department. The college gives prominence to sports and encourages the sports persons to participate in various competitions. We have a number of champions and University Blues who participated in University, state and National level competition.
Scholarship Facility
Provides Scholarships: Student�s whose family income is not more than Rs 1000/- are eligible for concession of tuition fees and Examination Fees by the Government of Karnataka. Institutional, Central Govt. scholarship and number of other private Institutional and Individual scholarships are also available.
Placement Service Available: The cell is actively involved in guiding the students for selecting/choosing the right career, provide training to the selected job aspirants and arranges campus interview. It has separate building housed with the computer, internet &library with books journals, magazines CD�s etc to facilitate them. The cell conducts skill development training to the selected final year degree students on language enhancement and analytical skills by the trained staff members� Further, experts are invited to advise the students and conduct mock interview. The cell also arranges campus interviews; more than 30 students have already secured jobs and placed in higher positions.
