Department of Music & Dance started in October, 1975 initially with M.A. Music (Vocal/Instrumental) two years course with intake of 10 seats only. Dr. N.V. Patwardhan was the first Head of the Department. Thereafter, Professor V.K. Agarwal, Dr. Madhu Bala Saxena, Dr. Suresh Gopal Shrikhande, Dr.(Mrs.) Asha Pande and Dr.(Mrs.) Kala Shrikhande acted as Chairpersons of the Department. The Department has special emphasis on research alongwith teaching of Indian Classical Music and Dance.
Department has huge number of Musical Instruments & Electronic Equipments for use of the students.Library with 2412 Books and 324 Periodicals/Journals
